This year, we are pleased to offer the workshop "Teaching Our Students to Write Effective Prompts for LLMs (AI Large Language Models)" with Dr. Katherine Johnston. LILAC Gambone Writing Contest

Submissions will be accepted through April 19, 2024.

Schools may submit for consideration the work of one or more students in grades 4, 7, and 10. The student entries must be submitted by a current member of LILAC. Each student must enter two pieces.  The first piece is a timed, on-demand writing response to the following prompt:    “Together we are stronger…”

The second piece should be self-selected from the student’s portfolio to reflect the
student’s best work.

Join us for our final professional development and networking event of the 2024-25 school year. Please join us and fellow colleagues from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Captain Bill’s Restaurant.

During this professional development and networking event, we will be honoring the local New York State English Council Educators of Excellence and our Kenneth Gambone Writing Contest winners.

Our featured presenter will be Raymond Bean.
